Network between Vista and XP
Rating:
()
I have two PCs. One is on Vista Home Basic, one has XP Professional and I am unable to setup a network between them.
Any clues? Since Home Basic atleast doesn't have that handy Home Networking Wizard like XP Pro has. |

if you are using a switch there shudnt be an issue. and if the PC's are directly connected. then give them both IPs like 192.168.0.1, and the other 192.168.0.2, and give the 2nd PC default gateway of 192.168.0.1.

Another VERY important thing. Make sure that the name of the network the PCs are connecting to has the same workgroup name. The problem is XP's default workgroup name is MSHOME whereas Vista use 'WORKGROUP' as the default workgroup.
They have to be the same to work. |
