Vista Kernel Leak Persists with SP-1 (beta)
Rating:
()
The obiquitous out of mem error that u get if u copy large files or a large number of small files (small files totalling !17k, between reboots, not cold boots) hasnt been fixed by the latest beta sp-1
the problem first thought to be limited to kaspersky products, is a kernal level bug. the problem is execerbated by using kaspersky product, but in no way limited to them! this issue has been replicated many a times by those working with a large number of audio files. A hotfix is available from m$, but that for some reason doesnt work with if u have beta sp1 on it! this problem is different from spiking memory use when selecting large numbers of files (~1,500) ,that is not released until reboot. more here, including a nice video: http://blogs.zdnet.com/hardware/?p=829 |

yea...only games are the factor that might eventually push us towards vista, that ofcourse involving dx10, when developers think that dx9 is the thing of the past, else XP all the way!

well yea memory getting more cheap (especially the 800 ones) are in demand. and 2gb is decent...moving to 4gb would be recommended for 64 bit OS.
and y wouldnt it work with ur card?? bcoz of it being the 8800 series card? im not to be worried with my 7900 right?

nopes, i dont anything will run crysis well!
![]() i am sure nvidia has a super highend card for release around the time crysis hits the streets! the demo is only a week away, that would be indicative of the performance expected of the game. NDA has 'forced' many not to share the results from the mp beta. and mp's arent the best indicator of performance anyhow! |
