Hey guys i just bought a core 2 duo 2GHZ intel system and have installed windows vista home premium on it, now whenever i try to run a game even a game which has low things to work it always lags .... i have heard that it lags because as it has two processors then the game does not know which processor to run the game through so it always lags, is there a way i can run games smoother on it ??? specially my old ones??

which old game are you talking bout ??? betta yet if you think that is the problem .. then go in taskmanager and see the process of ur game and change its affinity to one processor then it might fix the problem if doesnt then ur theory is wrong .. 2processors arent lagging up your game .. it must be your game is not vista compatible !!

Agree with the ^ post. Vista is very very laggy. Games run much faster in Xp than vista.

I have played that game on vista with no problems. Make sure you have sufficient Memory and that your graphics card drivers are updated

overall there is a difference of fps in vista and xp. Games tend to run a little bit slower on vista.

I have benchmarked XP, Vista32 & Vista64 with following config:
C2D E4300, XFX nforce 650I & Corsair 512x2 DDr2 667, NVidia 6600LE 256MB

All three OpSys configurations resulted in almost similar 3DMark 2003 score as 4100. & only CPU score was little higher in Vista64 than XP & Vista32.

So In my opinion, if you have enough ram (atlease 1gig & more is even better) then you may get almost same level of performance.

Also the first post in this thread suspect the core-confusion, just to make things clear (although i dont believe that reasoning) the gentleman can turn-off second core thru BIOS (most Intel & nforce boards support this feature) & then run the game.
hope this would help..
