My ISP rocks! (now it doesnt)

I used to have 1mbps bandwidth, until a several days ago when for some reasons my bandwidth was reduced to 512kbps. As some of you know, i am using a WOL (LinkDotNet) corporate account. So i called up my friend and he had no idea who actually reduced it....but he told me that the connections were being monitored, and since i was using a Rs. 30,000/month account, the higher authorities might have not approved it.

Anyway, so eventually i got to know that it cannot be increased to 1mbps again. So i go on with my life with 512kbps and set my standards low at speed of 55-60kb/s. However today, i was downloading as usual, when i noted in DU meter the speed going up to 70kb/s.

This surprised me so i access the modem GUI to find out if the bandwidth has for some reasons changed. And what i see astonishes me....
Download= 15025 kbps
Upload= 1253 kbps

i am like wtf...and i go into utorrent, and start all the queued torrents. Gradually, the speed started building up and reached 100, 120, 150, 180, 200, 230 , 250, 300, 350, .... 0_o

at once when all the seeders were active, my speed even crossed 450kb/s. Now this is wat i call a kickass ISP!

Now i wait and see how long this stays the same. I know this is big mistake and they will see it reduced once they have their eyes on it, which i hope they never do! Moreover, the bandwidth set is actually 14.6mbps, but i assume the copper line cannot support to provide all the juice.
As far as i have noticed, my modem has unsync'ed and sync'ed again for 3 times in the past 6-7 hrs, which is probably due to high data transfer.

u r paying 30000 a month :S or u r using account of the company u work for??? 450 kbps on torrents amazinn........btw i hve cable net connection and sometimes my downloading also goes insane but it happens in the morning only for 5-6 hours.....few days ago my speeds reached 1.5 mb/s (i usually download from rapidshare using premium account), and on that day i downloaded about 15 gb of data in about 2-3 hours...........

Normal copper cannot support more than 8Mbps. Older copper is limited to 2Mbps max speed.

thats why when dsl was new respectable magazines claimed it would put our telephone wires on fire, they forgot to mention the source would limit the speeds

of course not!! thats the amount companies pay. i just pay 1k per month

actually i used to work there and had my own connection installed, which was of course corporate account as there used to be no home user services in that period.

so i guess my copper line is somewhere between the normal/new and old copper lines as bandwidth is upto 4mbps, whereas its more or less 3mbps on average. (like right now im getting 280-340kb/s)



i didnt say it happened to all customers of linkdotnet

no chance of beating khurram bhai though. i could only reach 1/4 or 1/5 the speed he gets (if im not wrong).
