Is my cable net better or equal to any 256kbps provider my cablenet provides 32KB/S !!! what good is PTCL 256kbps when my CABLENET provides me 32-40 KB/S @ Rs.650 plz tell me advantages !!!!

if its got unlimited bandwith in 650 rupees what else do u need my friend..
cable net is far better.
and if there is not volume limit then enjoy it..
and pray that it stays...

The advantages you get in LAN is:
1. File sharing.
2. Instant solution to any problem. (if you have a good admin)
3. The lower the users using the network, the faster the internet.
4. LAN Gaming.

While these thing wont be available in a 256kbps PTCL DSL which costs some Rs.1,200/month with 4Gb volume.

I on the other hand had a bad experience with cablenet.
1. The admin 'dude' calls to tell me that I am one of top 5 downloaders on his network of 400-500 users and I should cut down. God forbid! If it hadn't been for power outages on his or my ends, I'd probably be the first!
2. He calls me again which really pisses me off
3. I tell him that he should have mentioned this 'limit' when he gave me this connection and I also tell him to kiss my a**
4. He blocks my downloads
5. I get DSL
6. Peace

But I also know people who are quite happy with cablenet. It never worked out for me.

The admin can also 'watch' every activity of yours I think since its LAN setup using sniffer. Right?

It's possible for the ISPs too to do that incase of DSL but they have some rules and regulations about it but the local cable wallas. I don't think so!

The local area network can be monitored through a software known as GFI Web monitor or something like that. It's a great tool for those admins who're running a cablenet as it has some great features which really makes things go their way and the network users can be stopped from doing something they should'nt.

comcast is the largest cable op in usa and probably has the largest 'torrent traffic' as well
cable internet is a pretty good if it is implemented properly. unlike here where it's more of a wan (wide area network).

i'm also on a kinda cable network, but of the fibre-optic variety.

well u ppl know that big Cablenet ISP's like Deltanet and Connect have joined local cablenet operator by fiberoptic !!! our cable is city ! and yes it has unlimited download and upload (with a speed of 32KB/s download and 20 kbps upload sometimes more !! ) how good youtube videos are played on DSL do they Stop and Buffer ??

Well playback of YouTube videos depends on your DSL connection. A 256K connection is 'usually' sufficient i.e. there is little or no lag. A 512k connection is recommended though which ensures smooth playback.

It depends. Sometimes the same video get cached very quickly while sometimes it buffers periodically in the middle and then gets cached.
