Any one here using Namecheap's web hosting?

http://www.namecheap.com/learn/webhosting/

I just saw it on their site and they have good packages. If anyone is using it, please comment on service quality, customer service and uptime, etc.

I haven't used namecheap and since they oversell, they more or less fall in the same bracket as other oversellers like dreamhost, godaddy, etc etc.

I am using dreamhost by the way, and they have a 97$ off coupon, so you can get a good deal for the first year for around 20$ or so, and its a good host.

Google for the coupon, forgot what it was.

Namecheap oversell? How did you form this opinion? They started their service just recently (just a couple months back).

What benefits does Dreamhost have over Namecheap?

My primary demands are:

- 24/7 support [which should actually be there and not a figment of imagination]
- High uptime [99.5% +]

After looking at their packages, the first one look alright, almost same as some Pakistani hosts, but looking at the last two packages, they certainly fall in the overselling category.

And overselling is no big secret. Every big host oversells and it isn't always a bad thing, you can use most of that space for file storage. I mean I am on dreamhost, it oversells, but atleast they are honest about it (in their blog) and I am getting good service, havent had a down time once.

Advantage of dreamhost over netfirms? Well if you are looking at the last package (10,41), you can get a similar package from dreamhost for 22$ after a 97$ off coupon. Other than that they have a great customer service.

In the end, it all boils down to what your requirements are.

I am looking at the second package. i don't need the stuff in the third and fourth package. Bandwidth consumption and space requirements are all way more than I need in them.

The problem I have with my current web host is that they don't reply to support queries and that is fishy. Secondly, the uptime is problematic since I need high availability and they just don't cut it.

By the second if you mean the Basic package then its good enough, but if you mean the third package, the 'Pro' one, then I suggest you go with dreamhost. Which is your current host?

Confusion due to the first email package.

Yeah, the Basic one. They have CPanel which I am already used to, so transition shouldn't be much of a problem.

What confusion due to first package?

Current one is telnap.com. I will advise that no body sign up with them.

Then go with it, since it has cpanel. You'll get dreamhost cheaper for the first year but it has its own system instead of cpanel or plesk, which I think is better than both cpanel and plesk.
