they must be pop ups, get
a)pop-up blocker
b)anti-spyware
c)i find AOL active virus shield to be better than either Avast or AVG. (but i think ur problem is more related to a and b)

nah i would recommend you keep on using avast or if you dont like it then definitely use Kaspersky Internet Security, it tells you everything and i mean EVERYTHING!!! whenever a connection is being made from or to you pc you will be notified first if you want to which comes in very very handy...

I used NOD32 from NOV 2006 till MAY 2007.. it is good at tackling with Viruses, but with Adware, Spywares, Spam etc.. U have to find other solution.. also It was an avergae AV for me atleast..
last month I downloaded Kasper Internet Secutiry after searching alot of reviews and forums on NET.. And for one month, its performance has been marvelous.

It detected 17 viruses from that HDD which had been scanned by NOD32 weekly earlier..

The Kasper Lab has many solution for different threats.. the Kasper Internet Security (not the Kasper Anti Virus.) has all features including:

File Antivirus.
Mail Anti Virus.
Web Antivirus.
Pro-Active defense.
Anti Spy.
Anti Hacker.
Anti Spam.

Bitdefender is also very good A/C to forums and reviews.. but I had my bad luck in cracking that.. though I did but after getting update, it states my version as Black Listed.

Asad yaar the MS Windows Defender is nothing more then a sh*t.
I daily updated its definition from MS (the Paradox Crack enables U to get updates from MS for ur softwares.) and even then a I got a strange kind of Spyware in my Vista's registery.. that when ever I try to log in the screen goes black.. and Windows is running in the bacground.. cause only Task manager used to work on pressing ALT-CTRL-Del.

I think my this long lecture would help Saad to find his solution.
