Chinese Mobile Set - Review
Rating:
()
I would like to keep this review as short as possible and try to put as much as details.
Sales Package: -Hand Set -Battery -Charger -256MB Micro SD Card -USB Cable -Extra Battery -Headphones -CD containing software Hand set dimensions: 11.1 x 5.2 x 1.5 cm Screen Size: 5.5 x 4 cm Resolution: 320*240 Colors: 262K (I beleive) Battery: Li-Ion 3.7v 750mAh Weight: The weight is about the same as that of K750i http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0218.jpg Out look: The build quality of phone is pretty fine. Its gives a solid look and have no lose parts. Even the 4 way navigation key is pretty firm and easy to use despite its different location as compared to normal trend. The color scheme gives this set a very nice look. On the front side the phone has Keypad, 4-way Navigation key and dedicated music key. On the top right corner of the mobile, there is button which is shortcut for the games folder. On the right side of the phone, there is only camera button while on the left there are volume keys, battery/headset socket and memory card slot. The top is plane while the bottom has mic and stick for touch screen. On the back size you could find speakers and camera. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0217.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0249.jpg Display & Mainscreen: The display quality is excellent. The screen is bright, clear and big and even readable in the sunlight. The main screen shows signal strength, battery life, profile mode (ringing or silent), Date, day and time. You can change the Wallpaper which could be a gif file also. Themes are available but are only limited in changing colors of the highlighted items. In this review, orange theme has been used. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0243.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0263.jpg Phone book: The phone has a memory of 500 names with each having 10 fields. You can assign photo, video and dedicated ringtone to each entry. There is size limit (I think 20k) on the photo which can be assigned to a entry. You can make caller groups. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0238.jpg Messaging: Now messaging is a fun part with the touch screen. You can input text by the normal method by pressing the buttons or by pressing the keyboard appearing on the screen or simply writing in your handwriting on the screen. However in the case of handwriting only 1 word is recognized. Like if you want to write “Go” you can’t write go at once but has to write g and when its recognized then you have to write o. I didn’t face any problem in recognizing the letters but this whole process takes some time. You can use your fingertips, or the stick supplied or any other suitable thing to do that. This model doesn’t support predictive input and thus you have to write the whole word (I have seen other sets which do support, so its set dependent). Similarly the option is to do all input in small letters or capital letters. Automatically change of letter after the dot is not supported. The phone doesn’t automatically saves outgoing sms messages and before sending ask the following questions; Send only Save and Send Save Send to many Send to Groups The phone has a memory of 200 messages. The phone supports MMS also. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0226.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0274.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0234.jpg Multimedia Now here I found the phone simply super. The phone has awesome sound, the best I have heard till now. The sound level is pretty high and I haven’t yet increased the volume level to full and the speakers output is good also with all the details. The phone has all the standard functions like repeat, shuffle, background play, equalizer etc. With the navigation key, you can skip the song, pause or stop the song or rewind it back. Video player is also good supporting 3gp, mp4 and H2.64 video formats. You can play the videos in full screen mode also and can forward and rewind them. The video should not be more than 320x240. I am able to play almost all the videos I have with me, even the one which were not played on N70. The sound quality of the headset is pathetic and are not meant for the music. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0253.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0259.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0255.jpg Menu The menu and navigation is very interesting and easy. The screen shows 4 main menus with each showing 4 sub menus. The main menus are AV Zone, Entertainment, System and PIM (I don’t know what does it means but it shows messages, phone book, call records etc) http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0228.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0232.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0236.jpg Touch screen The touch screen is very responsive and you can do anything with it. As I have learned, its not the force but the angle which matters. Once you know how to do it, its fun to move around within Menu using your thumb or finger. The good thing is that the phone is not only relied on the touch screen as it has keys also so just in case of any trouble, keys can be used. Organizer etc The phone has all the standard features like organizer, calendar, unit converter, world clock, To do list, Alarm, Recurrent Alarm etc http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0266.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0239.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0231.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0252.jpg Connectivity The phone supports Bluetooth and I haven’t faced any difficulty in using it till now. Apart from this it can be connected to a PC via USB cable. When it’s connected via USB, it shows 3 options i.e. USB Mass Storgae, Web Cam & Comm Port. I think the first 2 are clear while the comm. Port connects the phone to PC and can be accessed with the software supplied. You can take back up of the phone data and can send sms typing the text at your computer. The phone supports WAP and GPRS also. There is no infra red. http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0248.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x...m/DSCN0230.jpg Camera The phone doesn’t have a best camera. Although its nothing written on the phone, but I think it has 1.3mp camera. Don’t go whats written on the sets (as I have seen sets showing 5 or 3 mp cameras). I think the best one would be a 2 mp at most. The result is also not great but acceptable. However the effects provided by the camera are great, and if you take any photo with the effects, then the camera sounds good. Some effects are Grayscale, sepia, color invert, gray invert, and blackboard, emboss, cooper carving, whiteboard etc. So if you buying a phone only for a good camera don’t go for any Chinese set, but if take photo’s occasionally, then its ok. Battery Life The phone battery in my case last for about 4 days. My usage and the estimated battery life is with average 50 min of talk time, 15 messages and 15-20 min of music everyday. As the batteries are not standard, each set might have different battery life. The batter took about 2-3 hours to charge but take longer if charged through USB Cable. Miscellaneous The phone has a flight mode which means you can listen to the music while flying. The phone also has blacklisting feature which black list a number and whenever that caller dials your number, he will hear engage tone. No program can be installed. You can set the shortcuts for the navigation keys It has automatic key lock and also supports phone lock, sim lock and few other locks. I didn’t tried any except automatic key lock Conclusion Well I like this phone not because its mine but its value for money. It’s available in the market for about Rs 7-8K (non Bluetooth version are cheaper). For this amount, you will get almost all the things which the other brands are giving for Rs 20K+. I must say that in built quality, screen, mp3 playback the phone can compete with any phone. The only thing missing is a excellent camera. As I mentioned above the camera is acceptable buts its no match for the K750i camera. Regarding the accessories, there is a dedicated shop in the Pindi which has the chargers and batteries. Even bigger market exist in Lahore (I think hafeez center). One of the shopkeepers told me that these phones will shortly be released with warranty by a distributor. Although the phone looks promising, but the reliability is still in question which can only be cleared with the passage of time. Its with me for about 20 days and no problem yet (hang or shutdown).
