Hey!

Need help. around 4-5 days ago I had this weird problem that the computer would freeze up for around 2-10 secs, no matter what I was doing. Browsing, gaming, listening musics, anytime it would freeze randomly.

Especially durng games I noticed that sometimes some animations would keep looping like in WoW3:TFT, the small facial animation of characters would keep animating, in CS the gun would keep moving up and down, and the sound is also looping(kinda like brrbrrbrrbrrbrrbrr). The sound loop happened at every freeze thought the animation loop would happen sometimes, mostly the animation would also freeze!

So I thought It might be something to do with the HDD so I opened the case, unplugged the HDD and replugged the connectors again. After replugging, the freeze hasn't happened yet for the past 3 days.

But since yesterday afternoon I noticed my HDD light being constantly ON though I dont feel any such loading occurring..

Any ideas what might be wrong??

As far as temps goes, I had speed fan running during those hangs. I don't believe its due to temps coz:
Cpu temp: 47 Max(25 Idle, 35 Avg)
Hdd: 45 Max
System: 47 Max

Yes, I do need a front intake fan!!

Btw I ran chkdsk and no errors!

I believe it has something to do with the HDD sata connector because it feels a little loose. I pressed it firmly, and now the lights behaving normally!!

Thanks..!

100% QFT. had similar issues with my p5 setup. computer would freeze, wont even reset. i took the system apart a gadzillion times and it would miraculously fix itself!!!!

long story short, cable s-ata was shoddy! infact i later found out a certain batch of asus mobos did ship with s-ata cables prone to problems!

I never said anything about games running like charm on my system?! :-S
If you're relating to this post and the freeze, the freeze occurred not only in gaming but while doing anything(and it was related to the connector anyways). Plus CS 1.6 and WoW shouldn't be much of a fuss to play on IGP!
