In terms of Overclocking your Processor / RAM / GFX, do you guys keep your processor on the overclock frequencies all the time (considering you have good ventilation and proper cooler keeping the temprature below 60 or whatever relevant for individual component) or you only overclock when you start playing your games.

i have my proc overclocked from 1.86 to 2.33 permanently. its not a major increase so not much heating as well. and yes, the ventilation is good so im not worried.

temp is max around 48 in these conditions..and average 35-38

^^^ should electricity failure be any issue to an OC system??? other then the issues it already posses for a non-OC system

ur gonna kill ur system in three years either ways under stress atleast one component will fail....

On the current generation of c2d processors there is a consideration one should make, voltage increases are directly influential in the temperature changes, i.e if u are running a e2140, or a e2180 at 2.4ghz u would not need extra voltage the same 1.2 volts will apply!so even at those speeds your temp change will only be minute only 2-3 degrees MAX!

the moment u start feeding the processor more volts is when u have temp worries! either ways always pray that your motherboard dies in less then the given 3 year warranty, remove cmos battery and follow bios reset instructions....let the board be battery less for a day...send it to warranty they wont knw a thing!
Dont worry bout the processor they dont die easy!

no. no UPS. electricity failures can affect both OC'ed and non OC'ed systems. so i dont see how ur question fits here :S

Wat i meant was.. u must have increased the voltage for OC rite? So power failures can cause more damage to ur board??

i dont think he would need to increase the volts at those speeds, yes power failures without a ups would be detrimental but then logic tells me i cant claim that unless it has been researched and documented and proven! in my opinion it would remain same the damage with or without a overclock but then the question is is there really any damage? iv a 8 year old p3 working just fine through thousands of power breakdowns!

You can keep your rig overclocked all the time provided its in an environment with fully controlled and properly mentained ambients. Don't forget that installing after market coolers for most of the components is quite essential. I usually keep my systems oced all the times and they almost run 24/7 most of the time at full load (for rendering purpose).

If you are into ocing then it is always advisable to keep the voltages as much low as possible. I am running Q6600 @ 3.6GHz with just 1.35v. Excess volts can/may damage your component much earlier than excess heat.
