Hey Guys

I have the following rig:
Core 2 E6400 OC@2.4 Ghz
ASUS P5-B
2GB(2*1) Kingston DDR2 667 RAM
WD3200KS
XFX GF 7900GS
Cooloer Master 500W PSU (Real Power)

I have a budget of 16000+watever i can get by selling the 7900 (i hope around 4000)+watever i get selling a celeron rig(1.3GHz, 20GB, 256 MBRAm, i hope at least 2000)

so in this budget i can get 4850 and 2 GB of RAM....my question is whether my PSU will be able to handle 4 GB of RAM and the 4850...secondly...are there any issues (like overheating etc.) with the HIS 4850....and lastly i have 667 MHZ RAM...ought i get 667 or 800 modules wen i upgrade ( i intend to keep the old ones and buy 2 new ones,1 GB each)....thanks!!!

Your power supply can handle the 4850 and 4GB memory with ease, you don't need to worry about that.

The 4850 does get hot while gaming, but that isn't a problem, it can withstand a LOT of heat, so again, no need to worry about that. It would be good to have a fan running on it though. What casing are you using?

Getting 800Mhz modules will only be a waste of money, because firstly they will run at the speed of the slowest module (667Mhz in your case), and there is a high chance of incompatibility between modules, which might end up in a lot of blue screens. If you want to buy 2GB more, buy the same 667Mhz modules as the ones you already have. Beware though, that when you have all four slots on your motherboard filled, your FSB is under quite a lot of stress, so that definitely effects overclocking. I'm not sure if it'll effect your overclock, since that is not big at all, but I highly doubt you'll be able to overclock higher than 2.8Ghz if you wanted to. Your E6400 has a 1066Mhz FSB, correct?

To be honest, you don't really need 4GB of memory. Crysis only requires 2GB, very rarely does more than 2GB help. Although, it does help a lot with loading times with everything.

Go for the one with the higher cache. Rest of it, they are both equal.

1. power supply = okay
2. ram, 2 gig is okay, unless u want to shift to a 64bit os. i've shifted back and forth between 2 and 4 gigs and honestly found em to be nearly similar when it comes to gaming. if u do want to get 4 gigs, a much better idea is to get 2x2, rather than 1x4.
3. HDD. Flip a coin. yes as they would work together
