as i was frustrated about the local prices of GRAPHICS CARD offer by GALAXY...like 9800GTX for 27k which is globally sell for $200....

so i e-mailed GALAXY COMPUTERS and they replied

i would like to ask few questions related to the GRAPHICS CARD...

1-when the ATI 4000 series will come??

2-why are u charging too much for cards,just like 9800GTX its price is 200$ and with other exise duties it will be around $250..so what`s reason for too much difference...

Dear Mr Naqvi,

Thanks for writing to Galaxy Sales, Here i would like to answer your questions point by pont,

1) HIS ATI Radeon 4870 and 4850 are expected to arrive by the end of this week Inshallah.

2) Regarding the price for nvidia's reference card 9800gtx our cost is 240$ plz see below the calculations,
5% Custom Duty : 240$ + 12$ = 252$
15% Sale Tax : 252$ + 38$ = 290$
Excise and Other tax 2% : 290$ + 06$ = 296$
Total Cost In Pak Rupee : Rs 21312/= (296$ x 72)

And Inno3d 9800GTX 512mb is available @ 23000/= on our website, So now you can see the difference between our cost and selling price

SO NOW U ALL JUDGE THE PRICE OF ATI`S CARD.....

now lets judge the prices of ATI`s 4850 and 4870

GALAXY is saying that they are getting XFX 9800gtx for $240 so that is $40 higher ...lets make a sheet in considering this COSTING...

ATI 4850
GLOBAL PRICE=$200
GALAXY will get=$240
so....

5% Custom Duty : 240$ + 12$ = 252$
15% Sale Tax : 252$ + 38$ = 290$
Excise and Other tax 2% : 290$ + 06$ = 296$
Total Cost In Pak Rupee : Rs 21312/= (296$ x 72)

ATI 4870
GLOBAL PRICE=$300
GALAXY will get=$340
so....

5% Custom Duty : 340$ + 17$ = 357$
15% Sale Tax : 357$ + 53.33$ = 410$
Excise and Other tax 2% : 390$ + 8.2$ = 418.2$
Total Cost In Pak Rupee : Rs 30110/= (418.2$ x 72)

SO that`s mean we are paying $96+40 on both cards that is 9492rs....

mm that`s strange...decision is all yours..

hmmm atleast this may help us in predicting the prices, but one thing i dont get.. wat could be this 'Other taxes' ?? :d

if dollar comes back to around 60 again then there will be a difference of atleast 2000-3000 rs on all above models

Well its just 2% so it doesnt really matter that much... but why are they getting it for $240 when the price is $200???

if we get hd 4850 for around 20k here then it will still be an excellent deal....see they hve 9800 gtx in stock for sometime and they r unable to sell it, so instead of reducing the price, they r trying to sell them on the old price to get the same profit.......

However, as hd 4800 series is coming fresh, i think 4850 will still be less then 9800 gtx....

well this is also bad to bu 4850 for 20k as it should be for 15k...

faida kiya huwa ATI ka card sastay sell karnay ka...20k for 4850 is too much

Well people are aware of the price wars rite? I mean mostly people i think do know that the prices have gone down.. if they dont buy at the moment galaxy will surely have to do something abt it...
