Salam,
Guys i am facing a strange problem while playing games.
My PC
Intel Pentium Dual Core E2160
D945GCNL
1gb DDR2 667
MSI 7300GS 512mb

The Problem is When I play the following games the system restarts after about 5 to 10 minutes of gameplay.
The games in which the problem is encountered are
Call of Duty 4
Gears of War
Need for Speed Carbon
Assassin's Creed
CNC 3 Tiberium Wars

What i did is I changed the multiplier of my processor to 7x (Original 9x) which means that is Overclocked it to -22% and the speed was reduced from 1.8 to 1.4

after that each and every above mentioned game was working fine.

My Question is Can anyone tell me what is the logic behind that?

It could be a number of things including your video card. I faced a similar problem once when the fan on my video card was running too slow i.e. the video card got heated up too much and resulted in a crash!

You should try running on onboard GPU.

P.S. I really don't understand how underclocking could fix the problem unless your cpu is messed up.

I changed the multiplier through this utility.

Go to Function -> Intel Enhanced SpeedStep Control.

Yes.

If possible, get a PSU from your friend and then check it on your PC. See if the results are same.
