dear members

I want to know abt the entry test exams of unis like nust ant UET.

i don't want to waste 20k on doing prep from acedemies. please sugest me some good books and there papers.(what type of papers they make and the books we should read for the test.)

many of our members should have cross this stage so they will know better than me.



kindly help me on this.

ok i recently gave nust and my merit number was 546 mashAllah (got in software engg according to my prefrence but i screwed myself)
and on sunday im going to give uet test.
what i did was just bought a dogarsons ecat guide and read it maximum ofcourse not whole book as its 1200+ pages , plus i read objective books of physics and mathematics from ilmi and got photocopies of test preparation notes of acadimeis from my fellow classmates (i also couldnt afford academies)
now here is how i prepared fro nust and now preparing for uet:
first read the whole chapter then will try to solve mcq's in objective and ecat book.
i also tried to study sat but us ka koi faida nahin .it only is good if ur going for giki wahan general maths bhi ata hai.
for nust i tried to b really good in maths and physics and english bcoz their entry test paper marking has following whieghtage
math 40%
physics 30%
eng and chemistry (both) 15%

nust entry test merit is formed like this
entry test score 70%
metric marks 10%
fsc part 1 / 1+2 15%

so for nust entry test u have to be pretty good in entry test while for uet they have just 30% wheightage of test so ur fsc numbers count a lot.

but go for nust its a better university

the reason for be good in english is that nust entry test english is pretty tough believe me its totally away from the one we studied in matric and fsc . mostly ur vocabulary has to be good9Read news paper)

Ok, here goes, for NUST, UET and GIKI, you only need to study the FSC books and thats about it because you have a million books if you wanter. You have A level books, sat, e cat, fat, bat mat, lat and all the other -at and there are many of these.

For science subjects, clear up all your concept and you won't need those books, otherwise you will.

As far as the english section goes, it comes from the SAT verbal section (there is a 3500 strong word list, learn atleast the high frequency words from that).

another thing is that in nust test you will be given an hour for each subject and max questions will be 100.so it is always a torture the nust test i remember i was prisoned for 6 hrs in building combined with time to get their and back home it was shear pain.also in nust their is no negative marking so jo nahin ata tukka laga dena
in uet their are 100 questions u have to solve them in 80 min
each correct answer 4 points and minus one for negative. so proceed cautiously
out of 100 question 30 each are of phy chem math and 10 from english

I don't know if stuff has changed with uni entrance tests since the time I gave them but I just used ECAT in combination with year 1 & 2 math books of FSc.
