California state Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has appealed a decision made last month by a federal judge that declared a law banning the sale of violent video games to minors unconstitutional. U.S. District Judge Ronald Whyte said in his ruling last month that there was no evidence to support claims that violent video games have a more harmful effect on minors than depictions of violence in TV shows and films.

However, Schwarzenegger, who is infamous for his roles in many violent movies, believes that violent video games should be for adults only. "Many studies show the link between playing ultra-violent video games and violent behavior. We have a responsibility to our kids and our communities to protect against the effects of games that depict ultra-violent actions," Schwarzenegger said in a statement.

He added: "We protect our children from buying inappropriate movies and ought to be able to protect them from buying inappropriate video games as well."

) tried to go against the teachers and lost bigtime. he isnt mr. popularity. this is the easiest way for him (and probably for bush as well) to score some points!

But personally (arnold apart)... I think we should all give a serious thought about it.... it does matters and specially video games. Because personally i saw one of my friend buying GTA SA for his 8 or 9 year old nephew ... and most of us know that it has some serious violence, very strong language ( or should i say swearing all the time) material ....and upon asking he just said "oh c'mon, its just a stupid game "....???

GTA for a 9 yr opps on the other day i was playing another game gangs of london on psp and dad was right beside me and then that language came.it was such embarrasment

violence games are not for kids. And through personal experience when you play too much FPS, like I did in LAN gaming and at home it does make you a little violent. So definitely the violence and languagae factor should be considered when buying games for minors.

Nofel, yaar these games do have a category like 18+ for suitable for 18 years and older and are only sold to these upon checking their ID when making a purchase.

However enforcing these is up to the Selling store.
