i agree. HD4870 outperforms GTX260. with a price tag of $180 or so, i think its the best value for money. i think its worth waiting till it hits the local market..

the hd 4870 cost $300. the 4850 can be found around $200 from various e-retailers which doesnot beat the gtx260 but a competitor of 9800gtx plus. the gtx260 beats it very convincingly in most tests

those prices are discounted prices by some us e-retailers. one should not expect those prices here

the msrp of a 4850 is $200 = 14,000
shipping cost approx for (1lb) = 2,000
customs duty (5%)and sales tax (15%) = 3,500
retailer's profit = 1,000

which totals to 20.5k

on this basis the 9600gt at around 13k (slightly used ones can be found for around 11k on the forum) gives a similar price to performance ratio.

well if u can extend your budget to around 18-20k then wait and get a HD4850...if not then try to get msi 9600gt overclocked version...i have it and i am happy with it...furthermore msi provides 3 year warranty...here is a pic of what to get if u opt for msi 9600gt

I have two 9600GTs for sale. Take your pick. Check PM.

PNY 9600GT for 10,000 + Ship

BFG 9600GT OC2 for 11,000 + Ship

As for HD 4850 the above calculation seems correct that it would cost about 20,000 PKR considering dollar rates and duties etc. Secondly, I don't see how paying 100% more than 9600GT price is worth it unless you can grab an HD 4850 from US of A by some relative or something.

OmMeE will become famous soon enough
Getting the HD 4850 will cost almost double then the 9600GT so if one can afford it, always better to go for something more powerful.

You could wait for the 9800GTX price cut to take effect in Pakistan (if it ever will, you never know what's up with Galaxy).

You can find a 9800GTX for $200 on shops like Newegg and stuff. Adding 35% (taxes, shipping, etc.) to that equals Rs. 18,900.

By this logic everyone should have GTX 280 Tri SLi or Quad Xfire HD 4870 in their rigs. I am sure many people who can afford cards still want to see bang for buck ratios in their purchase.
